A good Christian man is sitting at home, in New Orleans, watching the news on TV when he hears the anchorman warning everyone to evacuate New Orleans because hurricane Katrina is headed right for it. The man puts his hands together and begins to pray: “God, if this is truly an emergency would you please help me…Amen.” The next day a police officer knocks on his door and tells the man that he is helping people evacuate and that he would be happy to take him to the bus station if he needed a ride. The man declines the offer, saying: “No need, God will help me.” The next day the hurricane hits and floods the man’s house forcing him to the top of his roof. The Man puts his hands together and begins to pray: “Oh Lord, would you please save me from this flood?” A few hours later a coast guard boat comes along, sees the man standing on his roof, and offers to ferry him to safety. The man declines the offer, saying: “No need, God will help me.” A few more hours pas and the rising water has forced the man to stand on his chimney. The Man puts his hands together and begins to pray once again: “Oh Lord, I have tried to be a good Christian and live according to the Bible, would you please save me from this flood?” Just as he finishes his prayer, a coast guard helicopter spots the man and lowers a rope to him telling him to grab on so that they could fly him to safety. The man declines the offer, saying: “No need, God will save me.” It’s not long before the water reaches the man and he drowns. As he is standing in front of God, he asks: “God, I have tried to live a good Christian life to the best of my abilities, why didn't you save me from the flood?” God looks at the man, shakes his head, and replies: “My son, I tried to save you…I sent a car, a boat, and a helicopter to save you but you refused my help!”...
